Organization

West Virginia Garden Club (WVGCI) is governed by an Executive Committee and Board of Directors.  

The Executive Committee is overseen by the State President and includes all the Elected Officer and Appointed Officers and the most recent past State President.  

The Board of Directors is made up of the Executive Committee, District Directors, Chairs of Standing Committees and Chairs of Special Committees, and any member of the National Garden Club Board living within West Virginia.

WVGCI is a member of the South Atlantic Region and the National Garden Club.  

The West Virginia Garden Club, a member of the South Atlantic Region of the National Garden Clubs, was incorporated in 1929.

SOUTH ATLANTIC REGION

South Atlantic Region is one of eight divisions of the National Garden Club. It consists of Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia. The directorship as well as the annual regional meeting is rotated among the states.

NATIONAL GARDEN CLUBS

National Garden Clubs, founded in May 1929, is the largest volunteer gardening organization in the world. Headquartered in St. Louis on the grounds adjacent to the Missouri Botanical Gardens, National Garden Clubs consists of nearly 9,000 clubs as well as 200 international affiliates with over 235,000 members.

District Organization

To facilitate the work of the organization, the state is divided into districts by county.  Clubs and members-at-large are members of a district.  

Each District has a District Director, elected by the membership of the district.   The District Director is a key link between the State President and the District.
